After The Show

Ok, this is me talking, Judy, owner of Alpen Antiks. I just finished reading cousin Betty's posts of her adventures in Aspen. Little does she know what lies ahead when she returns.... heh-heh
Last week The Aspen Art & Antiques fair took place in Aspen at the Aspen Ice Garden (Aspen Skating Rink) You are probably wondering: On the ice? There was no ice on the rink but there were about 60 million dollars in inventory on display for all who ventured to see. Quite impressive. After entering the rink on a red carpeted hallway you completely forgot where you were. I was stationed at the entrance to the show and became the unoffical greeter to attendees. After living in Aspen for close to 30 years I know many people. I had already seen many of the second homeowners prior to the show after I announced the arrival of the latest European shipment I purchased in March & April with cousin Betty.
I had the pleasure of viewing a 6.45 million dollar painting once owned by Syllvestor Stallone and Michael Jackson at my post during the entire show. Attendees at the show were as colorful and impressive as the fair itself. Close to 40 vendors from around the world were displaying their wares.
I am now in my office catching up on paperwork & reorganizing the shop after the show.
Note: I need to take more photos.......

March 2009 trip to Munich...Euroantik Market and more

"Meet me in Dulles on March 24, we'll leave on the 5:30 United flight to Munich". Ok sounds simple enough. This is cousin Betty writting. Just so you can maybe understand , I work for Southwest Airlines as a Flight Attendant. My travel was pretty uneventful except I accidently left my letter of employment in my mailbox in Chicago Midway! Thanks to some creative paperflow and understanding United ticket agent, the issue was resolved and my airline employee pass to Munich printed. But I still needed the original letter, just in case...so my supervisors in Chicago handed the letter of employement to the next flight crew going to Dulles. I met the plane, got the paperwork, I expressed my undying love and gratitude to them. It all worked out or I would have not been able to go. Judy's was much more complicated....All she heard each step of the way....you can't make it you can't do it that way, the plane won't wait for you, go just go on the plane we'll figure it out later.

Then, I se her, calmly walking to the United gate of our departure about 30 minutes prior to boarding, ready to go. Nothing is by chance, it all works out.

THE PLAN: MUC get a cab, go to the truck rental place. Truck was too big! Arranged for a smaller sized van, easier to manuver through cities in Austria and Germany........and the Autobahn. First several nights our B & B was www.edlhuber-mittenwald.de Snow and the truck didn't want to start the first morning, Heading out to make sure we made the opening of EuroAntik Market in Innsbruck. Finally we discovered the issue and off we went! Hope all the good stuff isn't GONE! Don't go driving in Europe with out a GPS you're familar with.
